CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)
van Zelm Heywood & Shadford, Inc. is seeking an experienced and dedicated CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO). Candidates must have a minimum of at least 5-10 years financial management experience in an engineering consulting business or other related industry.

Reporting to the President, the CFO will assume a strategic role in the overall management of the Company. Candidate will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the Company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, project job costing, legal, office management and other administration and human resources related responsibilities.

Essential functions and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Prepare and maintain annual Financial Plan with monthly financial reports to monitor performance against budget.
  • Organize, implement and maintain all G/L functions to meet record keeping requirements
  • Manage cost flow to meet company obligations
  • Supervise all AP/AR and PR functions.
  • Manage HR functions to meet Federal and State government regulations.
  • Manage and maintain company benefits programs.
  • Manage and maintain important banking, accounting, insurance and legal relationships.
  • Required Skills and Qualifications Include:
  • 5 to 10 years financial management experience in an engineering consulting business or other related industry.
  • Degree in business, accounting or finance. MBA and/or CPA a plus.
  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic fast paced work environment with often competing priorities.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and manage financial and office personnel.

Technologically savvy with MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., Deltek Accounting Software a plus.

Flexible and a self-starter, with ability to multi-task while also being highly detail oriented.

BIM / CAD Manager
van Zelm Heywood & Shadford, Inc. is seeking an experienced and dedicated BIM / CAD Manager. Candidates must have a minimum of at least 3 years of CAD Management experience in the MEP engineering field.

Requirements:

  • Expertise with and ability to install / customize the following software: AutoCAD
    MEP 2012 and REVIT MEP 2012 as well as subsequent products. Knowledge of AutoLISP, VBA, and Adobe products a plus.
  • Ability to develop and implement company BIM/CAD Standards.
  • Strong written and oral communication, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with mechanical (HVAC), electrical, fire protection/plumbing projects and general construction practices.
  • Experience with running/supporting AutoCAD and REVIT on a LAN/WAN.
  • CAD / BIM Manager must have experience producing and working with architects and engineers on Contract Drawings and Specifications, Architectural or Building Systems Engineering Drawings and BIM Models

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Develop and implement company BIM/CAD Standards.
  • In developing new standards, the CAD / BIM Manager works closely with the department heads to produce firm-wide procedures and guidelines that conform with national standards, our firm's culture, and the emerging best practices.
  • Perform drawing reviews for compliance with CAD standards.
  • CAD / BIM manager may be placed on projects where expert support is needed.
  • Coordinate with clients on project standards.
  • Update and further develop existing CAD Procedures Manual.
  • Organize the CAD environment while developing, updating and implementing BIM/CAD standards.
  • CAD vendor management/coordination.
  • Troubleshoot BIM/CAD coordination issues.
  • Provide production and technical BIM/CAD support to Design Teams.
  • Provide end-user support for plotting and electronic file submissions.
  • Serve as a resource for project teams.
  • Provide upper-level support for organizing project data, developing custom procedures, and customizing software to make the most efficient use of the technology for project work.
  • Customizations include CUIs, palettes, lisps, details/blocks, templates, styles, macros, etc.
  • Provide input to business development methods for efficient production of documents.
  • Regularly review the latest software and technology and make recommendations for technology updates.
  • Generate written technology evaluations for future software adoption.
  • Set-up, configure and customize CAD programs software and hardware.
  • Format and lead group training sessions for in-house CAD user and support staff.
  • Oversee the ordering and maintenance of print and plotter supplies.
  • Develop budgets for training and CAD technology items.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning of technology systems.
  • Coordinate with other IT staff for server upgrades, daily tape back-ups, network maintenance and upgrade.

Mechanical Power Engineer
Seeking a Mechanical Power Engineer with engineering and project management skills and a minimum of 5 years of experience who will conduct engineering studies and develop detail designs and specifications for rotating equipment, heat transfer, fluid handling, and related power plant and process industry systems. Preparation of mass & energy balances, piping & instrument diagrams, control architecture and sequences, start-up & test protocols. Candidate should have working knowledge of ASME boiler & pressure vessel and B31 piping codes, and analysis software tools, Thermoflow, AutoPIPE, Fluent, Fathom, etc., a plus.

Electrical Power Engineer
Seeking an Electrical Power Engineer with engineering and project management skills and a minimum of 5 years of experience who will conduct engineering studies and develops detail design drawings and specifications for power plant switchgear and synchronized generator interconnections, substations, transmission and distribution. Will prepare single line diagrams, electrical schedules, control architecture and sequences, start-up & test protocols. Candidate should have working knowledge of short circuit and coordination studies for system protection and related system reliability analysis, and related software tools, SKM or etap a plus.

Power Plant Designer
Seeking a Power Plant Designer with engineering and project management skills and a minimum of 5 years of experience who has AutoCAD proficiency or capability to learn 3D AutoCAD or other CAD platforms. Candidate should have working experience with piping stress analysis software tools a major plus. Power plant background preferred, but will consider experience in process industries, oil & gas, or large chiller and boiler plants. Responsibilities include piping & instrument diagrams, electrical single line diagrams, general arrangement, isometric drawings, plan & section drawings for power and industrial facilities. Prepares bills of materials and assists with materials takeoffs for estimating.

Electrical Engineer
Entry Level and Senior Level openings, preferred work experience in high/medium voltage electric power design or vendor field engineering. Projects include power plant and large building distribution switchgear, synchronized generator interconnections, substations, transmission and distribution aboveground and underground systems. Responsibilities include short circuit and coordination, system protection, voltage, thermal, transient impact and related system reliability analysis. Working knowledge of engineering software tools, e.g., SKM / E-Tap a plus.

Mechanical / HVAC Engineer
Seeking mechanical design engineer with experience in the layout, review and design of mechanical building systems for Educational, Institutional, and Commercial Facilities. Proficiency with AutoCad is required as well as strong technical skills.

Open position is that of a mechanical design engineer who will be working with a team of engineers/designers in the production of construction documents (Plans and Specifications) for new and renovated facilities throughout the Northeastern US.

  • Minimum of 6 years experience in related work.
  • Working knowledge of Building and Fire codes
  • Strong knowledge of Codes.
  • Strong Written and Verbal communication skills.
  • EIT or PE registration desirable, but not required.
  • Independent worker with ability to interface and coordinate with team members and clients.
