College & university
For over 80 years, van Zelm Heywood & Shadford has been
designing building systems to create college and university settings
that facilitate learning, exploration and growth. We are specialists
dedicated to designs that support the fabric of campus life- from
dormitories and dining facilities to science and laboratory buildings,
fine and performing arts centers, libraries, athletic facilities,
classrooms and student unions.
With mounting pressure on campuses to control energy costs and reduce carbon emissions, a much more aggressive approach to energy conservation in new and existing buildings is needed. This involves a focused effort to understand/ control energy use on campus and use new technologies to make all campus buildings as energy efficient as possible.
van Zelm understands the infrastructure implications of the college campus, and considers each project in its proper context as a component of the whole facility. We tailor our approach to the processes of planning, design and execution to meet each client's particular needs and requirements.
