Aetna Life & Casualty
Hartford, CT
Renovation design work was started at Aetna only after a conceptual evaluation project, commissioned directly by the Owner, concerning improvements to upgrade service. Renovation of the facility was accomplished in twenty-six phases, in order to accommodate continuing operations at full occupancy. Mechanical/electrical modifications include:
Interconnection of existing chilled water systems, and expansion of the DP chilled water plant to improve backup capacity and light-load operation.
Conversion to variable air volume in most areas, control improvement, and proper balancing of air systems to improve energy efficiency and comfort. Phased conversion to a new DDC (direct digital control) building management system to centralize and optimize control of HVAC, Fire and Security Systems. A computer-programmable lighting control system to reduce operating costs and improve control flexibility.
Rehabilitation and augmentation of under floor electrical duct systems to improve flexibility, system capacity, and service life. Expansion of primary electrical service and distribution systems, throughout the facility to improve system capacity and reliability. |
