Florence Griswold Museum
Krieble Gallery
Old Lyme, CT
The Florence
Griswold Museum recently held a grand opening for the Krieble
Gallery, 9,500 SF addition encompassing art galleries, visitor
services and administrative offices. Built to house the Hartford
Steam Boiler collection, the gallery addition’s three-peaked
roof system contains skylights that filter the bright sunlight
and bathe the artworks in natural light. The entrance to the
new gallery overlooks the Lieutenant River, and echoes the pattern
of the waves on the coastal estuary.
All areas of the art storage wing and gallery revisions are provided
with full air conditioning and humidity control, served by a dedicated
air handling system capable of providing year-round climate control
for artwork preservation. |
