As CEO, Mr. Krawczynski maintains day-to-day oversight of van Zelm\u2019s project management teams, production management, IT, and technical departments. Steve has been with van Zelm since 1990, and was named Principal in 1995.\u00a0 He specializes in the design of mechanical systems for commercial and institutional projects, and has over twenty years of experience with academic, cultural, healthcare, industrial and commercial facilities.<\/p>\n

A LEED certified professional and Certified Energy Manager, Steve is proficient in Sustainable Design principles and practices.\u00a0 He has previously served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Hartford College of Engineering Technology and Architecture.<\/p>\n

Mr. Krawczynski has PIC involvements and provides design review and quality assurance to project development. Mr. Allen is President and Secretary, serving in this role since 2004. In addition to select project management and design activities, he serves the firm as Principal-In-Charge of Electrical Engineering Services, with particular expertise in the academic sector.<\/p>\n

Ed has a broad background in engineering design and construction practices, with experience in both electrical and mechanical engineering design, application and analysis. Prior to joining the staff at van Zelm, Ed was the Owner and President of a local consulting engineering firm.<\/p>\n

Scott Madigan has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical engineering systems design for the built environment.\u00a0 As both a technical design leader and project manager, he has extensive experience overseeing teams managing intricate and complex projects, both new and renovated, for higher education, academic, office, commercial and industrial facilities.\u00a0 Energy efficiency and sustainable systems design features are incorporated into all of Scott\u2019s projects, including LEED, Living Building Challenge (LBC) and Passive House certifications.<\/p>\n

Scott has over 25 years of experience in the design & analysis of HVAC systems in the built environment. His expertise includes designs for academic, office, industrial, commercial and laboratory facilities.\u00a0 Projects include complex HVAC systems for renovation, retrofit and new construction within complicated spaces such as arenas, ice rink facilities, natatoriums, clean room environments and laboratories. Scott has considerable involvement with projects that include sustainable design objectives such as high-efficiency laboratories and campus energy conservation for such clients as Princeton University, Yale University, University of Connecticut, University of Massachusetts, The Lawrenceville School and Colby College.<\/p>\n

Education<\/h4>\n

Scott holds an B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts. He has additional training in project management and leadership; he holds a Professional Engineer license in multiple states and is a LEED Accredited Professional.<\/p>\n

He is and has been very active in ASHRAE, on the local, regional and national levels. As a Senior Technical Associate, he has led complex HVAC designs for renovations, retrofits, and new construction in demanding environments like clean rooms and laboratories. Specializing in sustainable design, he focuses on high-efficiency labs and campus energy conservation.<\/p>\n

Jean has overseen equipment sizing, developed design concepts, and implemented system controls for research, teaching, and specialized labs. He also supports project startup and commissioning by evaluating and troubleshooting mechanical systems.<\/p>\n

Jean has mentored junior engineering staff, providing guidance based on project needs.<\/p>\n
