The AIA COTE Top Ten Award is the most recognized award program in the architecture industry for sustainable design excellence. Winning this award means a project has been evaluated and recognized for its exemplary integration of design with environmental performance, equity, and climate action.<\/p>\n<p>Dartmouth College, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanzelm.com\/vZEngineers\/portfolio\/dartmouth-college-arthur-l-irving-institute-for-energy-society\/\">Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy &amp; Society<\/a> in Hanover, NH was designed by Goody Clancy Architects. The highly energy-efficient 55,000 s.f. facility contains teaching and learning spaces, faculty and research offices, demonstration labs, meeting and collaboration spaces, a cafe, and other spaces designed to foster informal interaction among faculty, researchers, and students. The building received LEED Platinum certification and achieves a measured Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 23.1 kBTU\/sf\/yr in the new addition\u2014an 81% reduction from baseline\u2014and a 60% reduction in the energy use of the existing building.<\/p>\n<p>College of the Atlantic Davis Center for Human Ecology in Bar Harbor, ME was designed by OPAL Architecture in collaboration with Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture Design. The Center for Human Ecology includes classrooms, labs, studios, faculty offices, and meeting spaces. This remarkable building exemplifies sustainable design at its highest level.
