BIM & CAD MEP DRAFTER / MODELER

Perform Mechanical / HVAC; Plumbing and Fire Protection; and Electrical Power / Lighting systems design layouts and BIM / CAD drafting & modeling in the building construction industry based on the direction of the lead engineer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Produce BIM & CAD documents through commands, menus and blocks.
  • Follow firm standards, procedures and guidelines that conform with national standards, our firm’s culture, and the emerging best practices.
  • Attend BIM & CAD meetings and work with engineers and BIM & CAD Managers on BIM & CAD improvements.
  • Work with architects to set up architectural backgrounds for use in engineering documentation, such as drawings.
  • Assist in model / drawing set-up and organization.
  • Aid in end-user support for plotting / electronic file submissions and serve as resources for project teams.
  • Assist engineers in design tasks as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of High School graduation or equivalent. Technical or Associates Degree in CAD Technology from an accredited institution or college preferred.
  • Experience and basic knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling)
  • Proficiency with the latest versions of AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of LISP, VBA, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office products and Dynamo is a plus.
  • Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines, and a strong work ethic.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced team-based environment.

ENTRY LEVEL ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical design on assigned projects.
  • Assist in the production of documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings, renovation and additions to existing facilities.
  • Application of engineering skills in activities such as problem solving, analysis, and design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or
    university (new or recent graduate with relevant MEP internship experience acceptable).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and codes.
  • Ability to meet fast-paced deadlines while maintaining quality design.
  • Ability to use software (such as Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD and MS Office) to perform complex
    designs and calculations.
  • Ability to work well in a cross-functional multidisciplinary team environment.

PLUMBING AND FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide design and layout expertise to projects as assigned.
  • Make and document calculations based on equipment and other job requirements.
  • Develop design concepts into working drawings, coordination with Architect, structure and other trades.
  • Concurrently work on multiple projects prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and project requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years of experience in the Plumbing and Fire Protection field.

  • Active Professional Engineering License desirable, but not required.

SENIOR ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Concurrently work on multiple projects, prioritizing tasks based on deadlines and project requirements
  • Work as part of a cross functional team of engineers and designers
  • Supervise and mentor less experienced staff
  • Serve as project manager for select electrically focused projects
  • Provide technical support to other staff firm wide on power topics
  • Visit project sites to interface with clients and collect data
  • Attend meetings both at office and at client facilities
  • Provide quality control review of electrical documents

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering plus 15 years’ experience
  • Connecticut P.E. preferred. Massachusetts P.E. also desirable
  • Experience with preparation of studies, master plans, bid drawings and specifications for
  • Hospitals, Higher Education, K-12 Schools, Institutional Facilities, Commercial Office and Campus Utility Distribution.
  • Strong analytical skills including experience with power analysis software packages such as SKM
  • Strong communication skills, including business and technical writing.
  • Proficient with industry standards and codes such as NEC, IEEE, and NFPA.
  • Experience in the design of lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, 208 & 480 V power distribution, standby & Emergency Generators, UPS, and similar building systems.
  • Design of medium voltage power distribution (5kv – 15 kv) a plus.

SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

PROJECT MANAGER/TEAM LEADER

RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidate will be responsible for successful client relations, project planning, organization and control, technical quality, and leadership of team members (ay supervise up to 12 team members).  Responsible for cost control, project and manpower scheduling and general management of all team members.    The incumbent will be a key person in maintaining, excelling, and cost-effective relations with clients, consultants, contractors, equipment representatives and vendors.  The fundamental responsibility of this position is to ensure that assigned projects are completed profitably, on time, on budget, and within the firm’s technical standards.

Major Position Functions:

  • Participate in regular planning, scheduling and marketing meetings with other Team Leaders and Executive Management
  • Plan and organize projects to deliver design products that meet cost constraints, time schedules and technical requirements with exceptional quality.
  • Coordinate all activities and interfaces to ensure quality control and deliver a product that meets or exceeds client expectations.
  • Ensure that the financial and administrative aspects of projects are handled in a timely, business-like professional manner.
  • Ensure that all engineering objectives are met without compromising the high quality standards that maintain the Firm’s reputation and meet project requirements.
  • Evaluate project scope and develop basis of design documentation
  • Provide oversight of assigned team members, conduct periodic performance reviews, and mentor junior staff on career goals
  • Attend interviews with Clients
  • Prepare fee proposals
  • Participate in industry associations and events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering plus 10+ years’ experience, 3 of which in a project management role.
  • Active Connecticut P.E. and/or Massachusetts P.E. preferred, but not required.
  • Proficiency with industry standards and codes.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
