The van Zelm Foundation, Inc. is dedicated to fostering the next generation of professionals in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industries. As an extension of van Zelm Engineers’ longstanding commitment to education and community engagement, our foundation serves as a catalyst to inspire and support students pursuing careers in these vital fields.
With a deep-rooted passion for STEM education and workforce development, we focus on mentorship, scholarships, and industry partnerships that provide students with real-world experiences and guidance. Our efforts are particularly aimed at addressing the critical labor shortage in the AEC industry by encouraging young talent, with a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion.
Through strategic collaborations and hands-on initiatives, the van Zelm Foundation plays an active role in shaping the future of our profession while strengthening the communities we serve.
Events
Our cornerstone fundraising event is the annual van Zelm Charity Golf Tournament. Now in its 31st year, this tournament brings together industry leaders, sponsors, and community members in support of students pursuing careers in AEC fields.
All proceeds from the tournament benefit organizations that share our mission. These organizations have included mentorship programs, youth development initiatives, and scholarship funds that provide students with mentorship, financial support, and hands-on learning opportunities, helping to bridge the skills gap in the design and construction industries. We also donate annually to an endowed scholarship fund supporting students in engineering, technology, and architecture.
As we grow, we look forward to expanding our event offerings, including networking opportunities, educational workshops, and additional fundraising initiatives to further our impact.
