Two Projects Win AIA COTE Top Ten Awards for 2025

We are thrilled to announce that two of our projects won AIA COTE Top Ten Awards for 2025. The AIA COTE Top Ten Award is the most recognized award program in the architecture industry for sustainable design excellence. Winning this award means a project has been evaluated and recognized for its exemplary integration of design with environmental performance, equity, and climate action.

Dartmouth College, Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy & Society in Hanover, NH was designed by Goody Clancy Architects. The highly energy-efficient 55,000 s.f. facility contains teaching and learning spaces, faculty and research offices, demonstration labs, meeting and collaboration spaces, a cafe, and other spaces designed to foster informal interaction among faculty, researchers, and students. The building received LEED Platinum certification and achieves a measured Energy Use Intensity (EUI) of 23.1 kBTU/sf/yr in the new addition—an 81% reduction from baseline—and a 60% reduction in the energy use of the existing building.

College of the Atlantic Davis Center for Human Ecology in Bar Harbor, ME was designed by OPAL Architecture in collaboration with Susan T. Rodriguez Architecture Design. The Center for Human Ecology includes classrooms, labs, studios, faculty offices, and meeting spaces. This remarkable building exemplifies sustainable design at its highest level. Designed and constructed to align with Passive House standards for energy efficiency and indoor air quality, the new center uses 89% less energy than code-compliant buildings of comparable size and program, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the college’s campus.

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing these visionary projects to life!
