August 14, 2025 marked a major milestone for the new Norwalk High School as the final steel beam was raised into place during the topping out ceremony. This 336,681 s.f. building will be comprised of two schools on a single campus: the P-TECH School consisting of 500 students and a Comprehensive High School for 1,500 students that includes visual and performing arts pathways. van Zelm provided the mechanical and electrical engineering design on this exciting project.
We were proud to join state and local leaders, project partners, and community members to celebrate this important step in bringing a modern, inspiring learning environment to life for Norwalk students. Project is scheduled to open to students in fall of 2027. Upon completion, the existing high school building, which was completed in 1971, will be demolished and new athletic fields will be built.
