This 175,000 SF, $95 million dollar building was specifically designed to facilitate greater interdisciplinary collaboration among science departments. Designed with an intensive sustainable design process and very aggressive targets for energy use, this project is one of the most energy efficient laboratory buildings ever constructed. Building systems include dedicated outdoor air systems (DOAS), chilled beams throughout all laboratories, heat recovery on all air streams using high efficiency enthalpy wheels, active air quality monitoring for airflow reset, condenser water/solar domestic hot water heating and daylight dimming throughout. The project achieved a LEED Platinum Rating, and all available LEED Points for energy performance.
